The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo began in 1950, born from a celebration our military at the end of WW2. Today, it stands as one of the world’s most recognised live, immersive events, delivering 26 performances across 23 unforgettable August nights on the Edinburgh Castle Esplanade.

Over 14 million people have experienced the Tattoo live in Edinburgh, with millions more watching across the globe – a powerful testament to its scale, reputation, and enduring appeal.

At its heart, the Tattoo is a celebration of military music, Scottish traditions and culture from around the world: a global showcase that recognises excellence, empowers communities, and captivates audiences through precision, creativity, and spectacle.
